Where our family’s dream escape becomes your favorite getaway!

Hi there, and welcome to Huck’s Hideaway! We’re so glad you’re here.

I’m Anne, and together with my husband Matt, we created this little cabin getaway in the Rangeley area as a dream turned reality—and now, we’re thrilled to share it with others looking for a peaceful place to unplug, breathe, and reconnect.

You might be wondering—why “Huck’s”?

It’s short for
Huckins, our family name—an old New England name with deep roots. We’re the seventh generation living on our 350+ acre family parcel on Bow Lake in Strafford, New Hampshire. The original house on the land was built in 1804 and is still in the family. We built our own home on that land in 1993, and it’s been the center of so many memories—fishing, camping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, bonfires, and generations of Huckins laughter echoing through the woods.

Matt and I have been exploring the North Country since the 1980s, and now our kids do the same—bringing their friends and extended family along for the ride. For years, we dreamed about having a cozy cabin tucked away in the mountains, where we could slow down and soak in nature’s quiet magic. When we found the Rangeley area, we knew: this was it. The beauty here speaks for itself—calm lakes, endless trails, wildlife sightings, and starry skies that make you stop and look up.

Huck’s Hideaway is the kind of place we always wished we could escape to—and now, we want to give others that same experience.

With my background in hospitality and real estate (I’m licensed in both Maine and New Hampshire), creating this space felt like a natural extension of who I am. Every detail, from the cozy furnishings to the fully stocked kitchen to the fire pit under the stars, was chosen with comfort and care in mind.

So whether you're looking for a solo getaway, a romantic retreat, or a family adventure—you’re welcome here. Come as you are. Bring your pup, your hiking boots, your book, your snowshoes, or just your need for rest.

Thanks for stopping by the blog—we’re excited to share more about life in the mountains, guest stories, local favorites, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the heart behind Huck’s Hideaway.

Stay cozy,
Anne
